What You'll Need

Equipment / Tools

  • Scissors
  • Glue gun

Materials

  • 14 Easter eggs
  • 1 Embroidery hoop

  • 9 Felt balls

Instructions

  1. Gather Materials

As you're gathering your materials, consider how large you'd like your wreath to be. Choose a hoop that's the right size for the space you're planning on hanging it. Also consider how many eggs you might need to cover the entirety of the wreath, if you choose a hoop that's on the larger side.

  2. Cut Crepe Paper Strips

Start by cutting strips of crepe paper into 1/2" wide strips. It's important to cut against the wrinkled grain of the paper, rather than with the grain, so that the paper stretches as you wrap it around the eggs. Cut these strips as long as possible.

  3. Mold Crepe Paper to the Eggs

Glue one end of a strip to your egg with a dot of hot glue. Pull the paper taut, releasing the wrinkles as you wrap it around the egg, and mold it to the curves of the egg's surface.

  4. Continue Wrapping and Gluing Eggs

Continue wrapping the paper around the egg, placing a dot of glue under the paper every few wraps. Wrap the paper so that it slightly overlaps itself as you work your way around the egg. Continue until the egg is completely covered, and add a dot of glue under the end of the paper and trim the end to finish the egg.

  5. Switch Between Colors of Crepe Paper and Finish Wrapping

Wrap all of the eggs using the same technique, in various spring colors to your preference.

    Tip

Before moving onto the next step, go through all the covered eggs to make sure they're dry and have no loose pieces of paper sticking out. If so, use your glue to make the minor fixes.

  6. Hot Glue Eggs to the Embroidery Hoop

Next, begin attaching the eggs to your embroidery hoop with hot glue. Embroidery hoops have two rings (an inner and an outer); you'll only need one ring for this project, so you can save the other for another DIY!

Place a line of hot glue onto the front of the ring and press an egg down onto the glue. Hold in place gently until the glue cools. Continue all around the hoop. You also may want to add a dot of hot glue in between the eggs that are touching each other, to create added structure and better stability for your wreath.

  7. Form Leaves From Felt Sheets

Next, cut some leaf shapes from one of your felt sheets. Place a dot of hot glue at one end of the leaf and pinch the sides together to create a three-dimensional shape.

    Tip

You can use different colored felt sheets to bring in more color to your wreath or if you're following a certain color scheme. Also, cutting out leaf shapes in various sizes will allow you to play around with grouping them and adding more dimension.

  8. Glue Felt Leaves to the Wreath

Glue the leaves to the wreath at random intervals by adding a bit of hot glue to them and nestling them in between the eggs. Fill in as much or as little as you'd like.

  9. Attach Felt Balls to Wreath

现在添加感觉球在花环. This is a good time to play with introducing an accent color (or multiple accents). Simply place a dot of glue onto a felt ball and nestle it into any area that needs filling. You can add them on top of leaves or eggs, grouped in multiples or in singles.

  10. Let Wreath Dry, Then Hang

Allow all of the hot glue to cool thoroughly, hang your wreath, and enjoy!
